Hp elitebook 820 g3 enable uefi boot to usb iso#
I contacted our corporate office and got a newer version of the iso that included Service Pack 1.

So I thought well, maybe I'm using such an old copy of Windows 7 that this new computer is having issues with the generic drivers it loads during the setup process.

The volume license ISO file I'm using is actually an older copy that my corporate office supplied me. So it made me think for a few minutes and why this was the case. But I can't use this OEM copy of Windows because I need to use my corporate volume license and the associated ISO that goes with it. I expected this to fail but instead it worked flawlessly and booted right up like it should.

I didn't even think about an I/O driver.Ī little update to what happened this afternoon with this, I took the HP DVD that shipped with this laptop and made a USB bootable thumb drive. I tried loading the AMD USB 3.0 host driver.

I'm going to call HP and bounce it off of them. If my hunch is correct, this newer version of BIOS is screwing up the USB boot process with regards to USB drivers. So I was able to boot fine on the older version of BIOS, but then I updated the BIOS to the latest version and continued with patching the OS and loading my 3rd party apps, not really noticing that this had now broken the boot process for USB. My typical build includes updating the BIOS to the latest version AFTER I've installed the OS. Why was I able to boot from this drive on the first laptop, but not the second? I'm thinking that maybe that first laptop was shipped with an older version of the BIOS that allowed me to boot from USB. I tried this and it still won't boot, getting the same "Load Driver" message. This should rule out my original USB build.

I didn't change anything between laptop builds, but as a test I decided to just use the Microsoft bootable USB creator instead, creating a new USB non-UEFI flash drive. So it got me thinking that maybe I screwed up building the UEFI portion of the USB drive. Well, I can't boot from those same USB drives with the laptop I originally setup. Because I was able to perform this on an identical 745 G3 just a few weeks ago, I've got to think either A) there's a BIOS setting I'm missing or B) AMD has changed the hardware and I got two different versions of this laptop. I'll be contacting HP tomorrow, but I thought I'd throw it on here in the community too. So I'm just wondering if anyone else has run across this.

It found the AMD USB 3.0 Host Controller, but when I click "Next", it yells at me saying there was an error with this driver and to get an updated one from the manufacturer. I attempted to boot again, but this time when I got the error, I browsed to the C: drive and pointed it to the folder where those AMD USB drivers were. Booted to the shipped OS and placed the AMD USB 3.0 drivers on the C: drive.Created a new UEFI bootable flash drive (Win7) on a USB 2.0 stick.same result.Tried booting to legacy rather than UEFI.same result.Flashed the BIOS with the latest from HP hoping I'd gain the ability to disable USB 3.0.no dice. Only the ability to disable USB all together. Tried to turn off USB 3.0 in the BIOS.this BIOS doesn't have that distinction.Tried moving the USB drive to a different port.I've been trying to get the OS installed and here's what I've tried.with results. But this is an AMD.so that shouldn't apply. I read that Intel is no longer shipping USB 2.0 with their new processors. I've seen this message before, mostly on servers asking for the RAID controller driver, but never on a laptop. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now" "Load Driver - A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. But for some reason I'm getting the following error. I ordered a second 745 (both of these were bought from CDW.so it was a legit/reliable vendor) and attempted to wipe/install Windows with the EXACT same USB flash drive, using the same process. I bought a Elitebook 745 G3 about a month ago and wiped/installed Windows 7 with a bootable UEFI USB 3.0 drive with absolutely NO problems.
